Elections Commission of Maldives (ECM) has decided to give allowance to four political parties from the state budget and has requested to release allowances to three political parties.
Political party allowance will be given to Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP), Jumhooree Party (JP), Maldives Development Alliance (MDA) and Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM), ECM revealed. However, ECM asked Ministry of Finance to release allowances to MDP, JP and MDA.
Speaking to PSM News, spokesperson and member of ECM Ahmed Akram said the allowance for PPM was withheld as there are some issues in the audit report, adding the Secretary General of PPM has been notified of the issue. The funds will be released once the amended audit report is submitted, Akram said.
