Communications Ministry to draft E-Transaction Law

Ministry of Communication, Science and Technology (MCST) has revealed plans to draft an e-transaction law in efforts to secure transactions made via internet.

Speaking on a programme aired on PSM News, Deputy Minister at MCST Mohamed Ansar said one of the biggest challenge faced for the ministry is not having legal authorities. Noting in efforts to solve the problem, several bills are being drafted to be submitted to the parliament, Deputy Minister Ansar said the first bill which will be submitted is the e-transaction law. In this regard, he revealed works are progressing at a fast pace with Ministry of Economic Development

Additionally, deputy minister said other bills include data protection law and cyber security law among others. Moreover, Ansar stated the aim of the new bills are to seek legal strength for the national signal window. He expressed the laws will also strengthen e-commerce sector of the country.
