Maldives have hosted a briefing session on Maldives Partnership Forum 2019 for Diplomatic Corp and key development partners that are resident in Sri Lanka. The briefing meeting hosted by Maldivian Ambassador to Sri Lanka Omar Abdul Razzak was attended by members from agencies, non-government organisations and ambassadors from various countries.
The Inter-Ministerial Delegation from Maldives headed by Ambassador at Large Dr. Asim Ahmed chaired the session. During the meeting, information was disseminated on the key developmental priorities of the government, and the arrangements that are underway for the upcoming Maldives Partnership Forum which is due to be held from June 17-18.
The Maldives Partnership Forum 2019 scheduled to be held under the theme Investing in a Resilient and Sustainable Maldives, will be the first in a decade that the Maldives has hosted its close bilateral and multilateral partners to discuss and deliberate on the direction of President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih's Government and its key priorities.
The details of upcoming projects that relate to the fulfilment of the 100-day pledges, as well as projects relating to the blue economy, social outcomes such as healthcare, education and housing, and finally, Governance reform will be circulated and shared with partner countries and institutions with the purpose gathering the necessary information, resources, expertise and capacity to undertake the implementation of the agenda.
Prior to the meeting in Sri Lanka, a meeting was held in Maldives. The inter-ministerial delegation will then depart to India to hold a similar meeting.
