Minister of Foreign Affairs has stated the Government of Maldives, on a new era of cooperation, is committed to engage with the European Union with renewed hope, on further improving the democratic system of governance; in the promotion and protection of human rights; and in protecting the environment and combating the adverse effects of climate change.
In his message on the occasion of the Europe Day to High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy/Vice-President of the Commission Her Excellency Federica Mogherini, Minister Shahid said Maldives values the close relations it has with the European Union, adding he strongly hope the existing relations will be further strengthened.
The foreign minister further extended cordial greetings and good wishes to the high representative on the occasion of the Europe Day, on behalf of the government and people of Maldives.
