Maldives Police Service has revealed about 50 kilograms of drugs were confiscated from the Iranian vessel captured in Maldives.
Police stated the drugs were hidden under extra fibre layers in the compartments of the boat. Further, the police said the court has remanded 15 days for the 7 arrested people during the operation. The Iranian vessel was captured 126 nautical miles southwest of Baa Atoll during a joint operation conducted with Coast Guard of Maldives.
While large amounts of drugs were found on the vessel, the police said the captured vessel is widely involved in drug trafficking. It is unclear whether any Maldivians were involved.
