Police to take measures to ease traffic flow

Maldives Police Service has revealed measures will be taken during Ramadan to ensure ease of traffic in local market, harbour areas, Sina-Male' Bridge and the highway connecting Hulhule' and Hulhumale'.

Since Ramadan is a month which congests the traffic in Male', the police has made plans to handle traffic in the city. Speaking to media regarding the preparations for the month of Ramadan, the police said priority will be given to monitor traffic in the capital. In this regard, police officers will be placed in 15 other areas which blocks traffic.

While harbour areas and local market area are mostly congested during Ramadan, the police revealed some roads will be closed off for four wheeled vehicles. In this regard, the police stated however, four wheeled vehicles which are given prior permission can access those roads. Furthermore, various changes have been brought in the areas to ease traffic flow.

Moreover, the police expressed check posts will be placed and police officers will also be engaging in managing the traffic near mosques during prayer hours.
