HRH expresses concern over unavailability of doctors

Hithadhoo Regional Hospital (HRH) has stated the most frequent complaint by residents is the unavailability of doctors at the hospital.

Addressing a press conference, Director of the Hithadhoo Regional Hospital Shah Saeed said while 21 doctors are on the hospital payroll, two key doctors are unavailable. Shah added complaints are received due to the unavailability of an ophthalmologist, a dermatologist, an orthodontist or a radiologist. He also noted one ambulance is not enough for Addu, the most populous region in Maldives other than the capital, Male' City. He said the hospital is working with the government to try and find a solution to the problems faced.

In efforts to address the difficulties Addu City faces, the government has begun work to develop a tertiary hospital, which would boast a capacity of 100 beds.
