Maldivian Embassy in Colombo to be opened for consular services on May 1

Maldives Embassy in Sri Lanka has decided to open the Embassy on Labour Day for consular services. The embassy will be open on Wednesday for consular services from 1000 hours to 0300 hours, according to Maldives Embassy in Sri Lanka. Since May 1 is marked as Labour Day, it is a public holiday in many countries.

In the tweet posted to announce the Embassy will open on May 1 as well, Embassy reiterated the urge to follow the orders and announcements from Sri Lankan authorities. Maldivian Embassy in Colombo asked to contact the embassy hotline to seek any information. Maldivian Embassy said information and advisory to be delivered will be updated on their official twitter account and website.

Previously, Maldives Embassy has advised Maldivians currently in Sri Lanka to keep passports with themselves at all times when they are outside. Maldivian Embassy in Colombo revealed security authorities in Sri Lanka may search homes, following the series of bombings that took place island-wide.

Although, Sri Lanka is a country many Maldivians reside, no Maldivians are harmed in the bombings which took place in the country.
