Maldives Embassy in Sri Lanka advises all Maldivians in Sri Lanka to stay indoors at all times unless necessary. The Maldives Embassy in Sri Lanka have been repeatedly advising Maldivians residing in Sri Lanka to avoid going to public places and to abide by the orders of Sri Lankan authorities.
Noting the security measures have been heightened across the country, the embassy asked not to go sightseeing and take pictures/videos to avoid all unnecessary chaos. The embassy urged not to visit the bombed areas to check out the place out of curiosity. The embassy also appealed to make sure to have a valid passport on hand at all times, as security checks are in progress, advising to follow the immigration rules and to renew it immediately, if visa is expired.
Furthermore, the embassy asked to require all documents necessary if needed by authorities during raids or at checkpoints. In this regard, the embassy has advised to go to the nearest police station and register as a foreigner residing in Sri Lanka inclusive of all residents citing safety reasons.
Moreover, the embassy reiterated to cooperate with the security personnel of Sri Lanka for smooth operations advising to reports any suspicious person or activities to the nearest police station immediately.
