Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has revealed over USD 226 million must be received to the state from concluded investigative cases.
Speaking at the ceremony held to mark National Anti-Corruption Day, Vice President of ACC Muavviz Rasheed said from the cases investigated by the commission alone, the state must receive millions of dollars. He added a special mechanism must be established to retrieve the money lost to corruption.
Muavviz noted information from government offices are sometimes held back when asked by the commission for surveys, adding it is a challenge in executing their mandated tasks. He stated it is important to restore the trust within institutions to further enhance efforts to end corruption.
