The main ruling party, Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP), has established five committees to oversee the implementation process of the government manifesto and parliamentary agenda.
MDP faced the presidential election with a manifesto to implement, adding the parliamentary agenda simplifies what needs to be done in the parliament to achieve the main manifesto. In this regard, MDP revealed five committees have been formed to ease the government and elected parliamentarians to work together to implement the pledges.
Speaking to PSM news, Secretary General of MDP Anas Abdul Sattar said the five committees will consist of cabinet ministers relevant to the areas, adding the 65 parliamentarians elected from MDP were given the choice to choose their desired committee.
The committees are focused on five areas which are justice, government, family, economy and islander lifestyle. The five committees are tasked with forming the legal framework to achieve the pledges in the respective areas, identify the projects to initiate to achieve the pledges and oversee the process. Cach committee comprises of cabinet ministers, parliamentarians, representatives from state-owned companies and technical experts, according to MDP.
