Ministry of Health is seeking 15 more ambulances to be used across the country.

In a notice issued, health ministry opened opportunity to submit proposals, adding interested parties must pay a non-refundable registration fee of USD 100. Moreover, the parties submitting proposals must pay a bid security of USD 3,237. In efforts to provide better and swift health services to geographically dispersed islands, the government has decided to establish a national ambulance service.

Noting 30 percent of ambulances in Maldives are unused due to poor maintenance, Minister of health Abdulla Ameen previously revealed a mechanism will also be established to continue services to be provided from all ambulances deployed across the country. The minister added the administration has now commenced compiling a regulation for the mechanism.

The services will further assist in saving lives and enhance the ambulance services across the country, according to health ministry.
