Action to be taken against MDP members who anti-campaigned

Chairperson of Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) Hassan Latheef has stated action must be taken against party members who campaigned against candidates endorsed by the party in the parliamentary elections.

Hassan Latheef made the comment replying to a tweet sent out by an MDP member calling to take strict action against all individuals who anti-campaigned against party candidates. The chairperson stated it is unacceptable that MDP members campaigned against their own candidates, adding action must be taken against them.

In the parliamentary elections held on April 6, MDP contested for 86 constituencies and secured 65 seats in parliament.
