Maldives Police Service has revealed the Interpol red notice on some individuals were withdrawn upon request of the government and as the statements required for the investigation on the scandal of Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC) have been received from them.
The red notices were initially issued seeking close allies of former vice president Ahmed Adeeb. The individuals include former Chairman of Housing Development Corporation (HDC) Mohamed Aseel, Mohamed Allam Latheef, Mohamed Allam Latheef, Ahmed Ishfah Latheef and Mohamed Visham, in relation to the biggest scandal ever in the history of the country. The notice seeking Mohamed Visham, who is accused of deception and issuing death threats is still active, according to the Interpol website.
The police revealed the four notices were retrieved on the orders of the government, as notices were requested to be issued as the suspects failed to cooperate with the investigations. However, police said their statements have been received, adding although the suspects are in foreign asylum, they are accessible.
