President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has appointed Dr. Farahanaz Faizal as Ambassador to the UK, and Thilmeeza Hussain as Ambassador to the US and as Permanent Representative to the United Nations. President Solih presented the letters of appointment to the new ambassadors at a ceremony held at the President's Office.
Dr. Farahanaz Faizal has previously served as the High Commissioner to the UK, and as Non-Resident Ambassador to Denmark, Finland, France, Norway, Spain and Sweden. She attained her PhD in Politics from the University of Hull, UK.
Meanwhile, Thilmeeza Hussain has been serving as Adjunct Professor of Sustainability at the Ramapo College, New Jersey, and as Co-Chair of Socially and Economically Just Adaptation and Mitigation Team at the United States Climate Action Network. She has previously served as the Deputy Permanent Representative at the Permanent Mission of Maldives to the United Nations, and as Non-Resident Deputy Ambassador to the US and Canada. She attained her Master of Science in Business Management at the Colorado Technical University, USA.
