Ministry of Islamic Affairs has decided to perform Salatul Istisqa or prayer for rain, due to the sparse rainfall some areas of the country have been experiencing.
The ministry has scheduled the prayer to be performed after Duhur prayers on Monday. In Male' City the prayer would be performed at the Islamic Centre while in outer islands the prayer would be performed at the biggest mosque in each island.
Salatul-Istisqa is permissible when there is a drought and sparse rainfall. The country has been experiencing intense heat these days, with no rainfall recorded in some areas for a long time.
