Government to distribute 2 LED lights to each household

Ministry of Environment has handed over 5,000 LED lights to Fenaka Corporation Limited. The LED lights handed over by Minister of Environment Dr. Hussain Rasheed Hassan was received by Managing Director of Fenaka Ahmed Saeed.

The LED lights were provided by Energy Efficiency Services Limited (EESL) of India, under an agreement signed to provide 200-thousand LED lights to Maldives. EESL is a joint venture under the Ministry of Power of India.

Speaking at the ceremony, Environment Minister Hussain Rasheed revealed efforts will be made to introduce a smart metre in the coming days. Meanwhile, Managing Director Ahmed Saeed said it is an aim to provide electricity in affordable rates.

Under the programme to distribute LED lights to households, two LED lights will be distributed per household.
