Parliamentarian Eva Abdulla has expressed interest to become the deputy speaker of parliament. Expressing interest for the post, Eva Abdulla said she endorses Parliamentarian Mohamed Aslam as the speaker of the parliament.
Speaking on a programme aired on PSM News, Eva, who secured her third term, described Aslam as a responsible and capable person for the post. Meanwhile, in addition to Aslam, former Minister of Home Affairs Hassan Afeef and independent Parliamentarian Abdulla Jabir have expressed interest for the speaker post.
Moreover, Eva added if she is given the opportunity to serve as the deputy parliament speaker, she will graciously accept it. Former President Mohamed Nasheed revealed members of Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) will be appointed as speaker and deputy speaker.
MDP secured 65 out of the 87 seats in the parliamentary elections held on April 6.
