President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has inaugurated Drug Detoxification and Community Rehabilitation Centre in Hanimaadhoo in Haa Dhaalu Atoll. The president officially inaugurated the centre during a campaign trip organised by Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) to the northern atolls.
Speaking to PSM News, National Drug Agency revealed the centre was established with all treatment needed for the patients. The agency stated it is seeking staff for the centre in Hanimaadhoo, adding a date to begin services will be announced in the coming days.
It is a pledge of the current administration to establish drug rehabilitation centres in three areas of the country. As part of the pledge, the administration has inaugurated a detoxification centre in Addu City.
