Maldives Police Service has revealed there has been a decline in the number of traffic violations. Police now publish case statistics every week.
According to Police Service, from February 15 to February 23, 752 cases were recorded of people riding with no license. However, from February 23 to March 1, the number of recorded cases decreased to 258.
Speaking to PSM News, Deputy Head Sub Inspector of Hulhumale' Traffic Department Ahmed Waheed said, the number of traffic regulation violators decreased following the special operation commenced by the traffic police. Ahmed Waheed expressed the police are conducting special programmes during weekends as well.
The number of road accidents increased following the opening of Sinamale' bridge to traffic.
