Dhivehi Language Academy has revealed efforts are underway to formulate Dhivehi alternatives for English names given to government offices, ministries, institutions and state companies.
Addressing the function held to mark the International Mother Language Day, President of the Dhivehi Language Academy Ashraf Ali said the work is being carried out with counsel from President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih. He noted while some institutions already have Dhivehi names, work is underway to determine the best names for the rest of the institutions.
Practical work would begin after deliberations with relevant parties, according to the President of the Dhivehi Language Academy.
