PPM-PNC to submit no-confident motion against Defence Minister

Opposition coalition has revealed efforts are underway to submit no-confidence motion against Minister of Defence Mariya Ahmed Didi.

Speaking at a joint press conference held by Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM) and Peoples’ National Congress (PNC), President of PNC Abdul Raheem Abdulla said a no-confidence motion against the defence minister will be submitted to the parliament. The no-confidence motion will be filed regarding the comments made during an interview to an Indian media outlet which PPM-PNC coalition believes has hindered the sovereignty of the country, according to Abdul Raheem.

Moreover, the opposition parliamentarian also criticised Minister of Foreign Affairs Abdulla Shahid, adding the opposition coalition has officially begun efforts to hold the administration accountable.
