MMPRC to promote all segments of Maldivian tourism

Managing Director of Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC) Thoyyib Mohamed has said Maldives is well-known as a luxury destination to most foreigners and information regarding the tourism sector of the country are not delivered properly.

Speaking to PSM News during the BIT 2019 tourist fair in Milan, Thoyyib said a lot of efforts are exerted to ensure all aspects of tourism was promoted during the fair. Thoyyib highlighted several interviews were given to foreign medias along with a press conference. In this regard, he noted information regarding various segments of the tourism sector were disseminated rather than promoting Maldives only as a luxury destination.

Furthermore, the managing director of MMPRC revealed importance was given on informing foreigners about the liveaboards, local guesthouses and hotels. He also revealed joint collaborative promotional activities were discussed during meetings held with tour operators and travel agents.

The fair was participated by 10 companies and 17 parties from the tourism sector of Maldives, along with MMPRC. The Maldivian delegation was headed by Thoyyib Mohamed.

BIT is an event that brings together tour operators from all over the world, a large audience of visitors, travel lovers, television and press. Sponsored by Fiera Milano, the most important player in the exhibition industry in Italy and one of the biggest in the world, Bit takes place every year, since 1980.

Over the years, Bit has been an international meeting point for decision makers, professionals, buyers, sharply outlined and selected, coming from different areas and industry fields. Italian market is one of the top five tourist markets in Maldives. In 2018, the tourist arrivals from Italy rose by 18.5% compared to 2017.
