Severe dengue patient to be taken abroad for treatment

Authorities have begun preparations to medevac a child brought from Feeali in Faafu Atoll diagnosed with dengue.

The child was brought to Male' City from the island to seek further medical attention for complications related to dengue. The patient who is being prepared to be taken abroad is a six year old boy, who is receiving treatment at the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) in Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH).

Six dengue patients, all children between 6 and 7 years of age, were brought from Feeali. They are 2 girls and 4 boys. Two of them have been discharged after treatment while three more are under treatment.

All the patients were transferred to Male' via sea ambulances, with the assistance from Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF).
