Local Government Authority (LGA) has revealed 54 councils failed to submit annual reports before the deadline.
Each year, it is required to submit a detailed report of the projects conducted by the councils before January 20, according to the Decentralisation Act of Maldives.
LGA said while 200 councils are established in Maldives, 54 councils did not submit the reports before the deadline. The 146 councils that submitted the annual reports include 3 city councils and 126 island councils, according to the authority. LGA has requested the remaining councils to submit the reports as earliest as possible.
LGA revealed it has reminded the councils a month prior to the deadline to submit the reports.
