President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih states the cabinet is already working on establishing proper rules and regulations to control the tobacco use in the Maldives. The president made the remarks at a meeting held with the members of the Maldives Non-Communicable Disease Alliance (Maldives NCD Alliance).
During the meeting held at the President’s Office, President Solih said the administration is ready to listen to concerns in regards to health issues, adding the administration will work to find an acceptable solution to the issue at hand.
Speaking at the meeting members of the Maldives NCD Alliance briefed the president on the negative effects casted on society due to tobacco use, especially highlighting the related medical issues related to this cause. Moreover, the members requested the President to take the necessary action to free the country from the hazards of tobacco use. They underscored Maldivians are still not enough aware on the hazards of tobacco use and discussed on ways to control the use of tobacco.
During the meeting members of the Maldives NCD Alliance presented the President with a commemorative gift.
