Bed-nights increase by 10.2% in 2018

Ministry of Tourism has revealed the bed-nights increased by 10.2 percent in 2018 compared to 2017.

The total number of beds in tourism facilities amounted to 48, 860 by the end of 2018, according to statistics published by the tourism ministry. While 41,077 beds were sold, the number of bed-nights spent by tourists increased by 10.2 prevent.

The ministry stated while a 62.1 percent increase was seen in the amount of beds sold last year, it is an increase of 1 percent compared to 2017. Moreover, tourism ministry noted during the period a tourist spent 6.4 days in Maldives on average.

Up until December, tourist arrival amounted to 1.4 million last year, which is an increase of 6.8 percent compared to 2017.
