MDP primary elections was a success for the leadership

Most members from the leadership of Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) who competed in the primary elections win tickets for the upcoming parliamentary elections.

President Mohamed Nasheed, Chairperson Hassan Latheef, Vice Chairperson Ali Niyaz and Secretary General Anas Abdul Sattar contested in the primary elections. However, Anas Abdul Sattar was the only individual who lost the primaries. Anas, who competed for Mid-Maafannu constituency lost against former Parliamentarian Mohamed Rasheed.

Nasheed competed for the Mid-Machangolhi constituency, Hassan Latheef secured party ticket for West-Henveiru constituency and Ali Niyaz competed for Hulhumale' constituency. Moreover, Vice Chairperson, Administration Ahmed Abdulla secured the party ticket for Baarah constituency without a primary election. He previously represented Ihavandhoo constituency in the Parliament.
