Maldives sign MoU with UAE on Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency

Minister of Environment of Maldives Dr. Hussain Rasheed Hassan and the Minister of Climate Change and Environment of UAE Dr. Thani Al Zeyoudi signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Cooperation in the Field of Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency, at a ceremony held at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre.

The MoU will facilitate cooperation between the two countries with regard to renewable energy, generating the exchange of experiences relating to practices, policies, frameworks and the sharing of scientific and technological information.

In a statement, Ministry of Foreign Affairs said the government of Maldives considers the MoU as a significant milestone in the bilateral relations the two countries nurture and one which will help Maldives in moving towards a more sustainable future as in the vision of the administration.

The ceremony took place on the side-lines of the official visit to UAE by President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih. The president is accompanied by Minister of Foreign Affairs Abdulla Shahid and Minister of Environment Dr. Hussain Rasheed Hassan.
