Ministry of Health has aimed to eliminate dengue fever carrier, Aedes mosquito, completely from Maldives. Addressing the function held to launch the implementation of regularised vector control measures, Minister of Health Abdulla Ameen said the hard work of Maldivians resulted in the elimination of filarial and malaria in Maldives.
The health minister assured with the same effort and hope, dengue can also be eliminated from Maldives completely. In this regard, Minister Ameen revealed plans to completely eliminate Aedes mosquito responsible for dengue disease. He noted it is impossible to achieve the goal with the effort of just the government offices, but rather with the collective effort of the society.
Meanwhile, speaking at the launching ceremony, Mayor Shifa Mohamed revealed the Male' City Council has identified possible areas mosquitoes breed.
The implementation of regularised vector control measures is a pledge of President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih included in the first 100-day pledge policy.
