Ministry of Higher Education has achieved three pledges assigned as part of President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih's 100-day pledge policy. The pledges include reducing the interest rates of loans for students seeking higher education abroad, reviewing the scholarship scheme and providing scholarships from desired universities for students achieving first place in GCE A Level.
Speaking to media regarding the pledges, Minister of Higher Education Dr. Ibrahim Hassan revealed efforts are underway to fulfil all pledges assigned. In this regard, Minister Ibrahim Hassan noted three pledges have been achieved with efforts underway to achieve the remaining pledges.
Explaining the pledges achieved so far, the higher education minister highlighted A Level top achievers will get scholarships from desired universities from next year onwards. Further, the minister added interest rate of student loans have been reduced to 3% from the initial 5% , as part of the new loan regulation, noting the loans announced from September onwards will follow the reviewed regulations, In addition, he revealed the loan paying period has been extended to 20 years to ease the process after restructuring the loan payments.
In the first 100-day pledge policy, President Solih has assigned 6 pledges to the higher education ministry.
