Completion of airport development project to boost tourism

Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL) has revealed the completion of airport expansion project will boost the tourism sector of the country.

Speaking to the press on the latest developments of the mega expansion project of Velana International Airport (VIA), acting Managing Director Moosa Solih said the tourism sector is flourishing year by year. In this regard, Moosa Solih added the tourism sector increases its occupancy rate by at least 7 percent every year, which results in the increased number of flight operations of the airlines.

Moosa Solih stated the completion of the seaplane terminal and the international terminal will enhance the airline operations at VIA, simultaneously enhancing the tourism sector. Moreover, he described the expansion project as a step forward in enhancing the economy of Maldives.
