Deputy Speaker of the Parliament Moosa Manik has confirmed his candidature for Laamu Gan Constituency as an independent candidate. Parliamentarian Moosa Manik was a member of the opposition Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM) until he recently detached from the party.
Moosa Manik explained he made the decision to run for Laamu Gan Constituency as he began his political career in Laamu Atoll, adding he served a lot in terms of politics to Gan. He further said he has noticed the constituency was very much marginalised in the last legislative cycle, expressing hope to work with the government to bring development to the area, if elected.
Moosa Manik was last elected to Parliament as a member of Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP). However, he then signed for PPM when it was the ruling party.
