Tourism Ministry has revealed the number of tourist arrivals to Maldives increased 7% by the end of November. 125,604 tourists arrived to Maldives in November with the total number of tourist arrivals in the year recorded at over 1.3 million so far, according to statistics formulated with the information collected from Maldives Immigration and from tourist facilities registered at Ministry of Tourism.
Most number of tourists arrived from Europe, with more than 600,000 tourist arrivals, which is an increase of 12.5% compared to the same period of last year, according to statistics. Moreover, statistics showed the second most number of tourists arrived to Maldives in Asia Pacific countries with more than 500,000 tourist arrivals in November which is an increase of 1.2% compared to same period last year.
Announcing statistics to the media, Minister of Tourism Ali Waheed stated the number of tourists arriving to Maldives can be increased with the collective effort of all stakeholders engaged in the sector. Looking at separate markets, the top 10 markets with the most tourist arrivals are China, Germany, UK, Italy, India, Russia, France, Japan, UAE and Australia.
