MATATO reveals plans for next year, more co-operation with government

Maldives Association of Travel and Tour Operators (MATATO) has stated its efforts to promote Maldives as a tourist destination will be conducted in cooperation with relevant government authorities.

Speaking to media, President of MATATO Abdulla Giyas said the efforts for the upcoming year is planned in association with Ministry of Tourism and Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC). Revealing information about this year and the festivals and exhibitions Maldives was promoted, Giyas stated the number of fairs attended by tourism entities increased this year, adding the promotional activities were also enhanced this year.

Moreover, Giyas mentioned more training programmes and other relevant programmes were held this year. Giyas went on to note the training programmes were increased this year, as human resource development is one major aspect in the enhancement of the tourism industry. Talking about the plans for the upcoming year, Giyas noted MATATO has now begun efforts to plan for the year ahead.

In efforts to promote Maldives as a tourist destination, MATATO participated in 16 events held in 13 different countries this year.
