ABA General Meeting and Conference begins in Maldives

Deputy CEO of Bank of Maldives Mohamed Shareef has stated the banking sector of Maldives is progressing into digitisation at a fast pace. The deputy CEO made the remarks while speaking at the 35th Asia Bankers Association (ABA) General Meeting and Conference which kicked off at Kurumba Maldives.

Speaking during one of the sessions of the conference regarding the Maldivian Economy and Banking sector, Deputy CEO Mohamed Shareef noted the economy of the country is growing with sectors such as expanding banking with advancement in technology. Shareef said the aim of the national bank is to digitise all the services to provide prompt services to the customers.

The ABA General Meeting and Conference brings together over 100 banking sector officials from 25 countries in the Asia region. The conference is attended by CEOs and the heads of some of Asia's biggest financial institutions. It is the first international banking event of its kind ever held in the Maldives.

The theme of the conference is "Banking in Asia the Next Frontier" and the region's leading financial services minds will discuss banking developments in Asia, in particular, the importance of the financial sector's continued stability and integrity in the face of rapid technological advancement.
