Housing Ministry completes construction of hospital developed at ECC

Ministry of Housing and Infrastructure has concluded the project to transform Equatorial Convention Centre (ECC) in Addu City to a 100-bed tertiary hospital. All work except installing machinery have now been completed, stated Minister of Housing and Infrastructure Dr. Mohamed Muizzu.

Alia Construction (Pvt) Ltd. is the contractor of the USD 10.4 million project, which is financed by Saudi Fund for Development and OPEC Fund for International Development (OFID). Alia Construction began developing the hospital in 2016.

Health ministry previously revealed that State spent USD 21 million for the project even though the project was funded by Saudi Fund for Development and OFID.

ECC, located in Hithadhoo in Addu City, was built especially for the 17th SAARC Summit which was held in November 2011 in Addu City and Fuvahmulah City.
