Discussions ongoing with 3 new airlines to begin operations to Maldives: Ambassador Shiaan

Maldivian Ambassador to UK and Belgium Ahmed Shiaan has said discussions are ongoing with three new airlines to begin operations to Maldives. The ambassador made the statement while speaking to the local media during the ongoing World Travel Market (WTM) 2018 held in London, Excel from November 5-7.

Speaking to media, Shiaan noted there is a high demand for tourists arriving to the country from Europe, thus discussions have been held with airlines such as British Airways and Emirates to increase frequency to the Maldives. He further noted discussions are also ongoing with 3 major airlines to begin operations to the Maldives.

Speaking about the ongoing WTM event, Shiaan said it is the one of the best business to business event for tourism sector stakeholders, citing British and European markets lead arrivals to the Maldives. He said numerous deals are agreed during the event every year, noting there is high hope this year would bring in even more business partnerships for tourism and trade professionals operating in the Maldives.
