Maldives has won 3 significant awards at World Travel Awards 2018.
Maldives won prestigious positions of the Indian Ocean's Leading Beach Destination, Indian Ocean's Leading Dive Destination and Indian Ocean's Leading Destination at the annual World Travel Awards; Africa and Indian Ocean held at The Dubran International Convention Centre, South Africa. Maldives once again secured the prestigious positions after fierce competition with Africa and Indian Ocean's top tourist destinations such as Seychelles and Mauritius.
The World Travel Awards; Africa and Indian Ocean Gala Ceremony 2018 promised to be the most prestigious travel and tourism event of the year, which brought together leading figureheads and VIPs from across Africa and the Indian Ocean.
The evening also forms part of the silver jubilee World Travel Awards Grand Tour 2018, the World Travel Awards' 25th anniversary of honouring excellence in the international hospitality industry. At the red carpet event, the formal announcement of victory and stage presentation of World Travel Award took place along with filmed media interviews.
