President-Elect hopeful of a free media in the future

President-Elect Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has expressed, to witness a Maldives in which media and journalism can operate freely remains his everlasting dream.
The president-elect stated he has always dreamt of freedom of journalism and media in Maldives as he, himself had some experiences in the field.

President-Elect has worked at Television Maldives (TVM), as a producer from 1984 to 1989. After that, Ibrahim Mohamed Solih worked in Sangu newspaper in 1990. Ibrahim Mohamed Solih revealed journalism and media freedom were given a chance in the new constitution, which even showed positive results until recently.

Moreover, Ibrahim Mohamed Solih expressed the Anti-defamation Act ratified by President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom which obstructs the right of journalists and media will be nullified when he assumes office.
