Former President Nasheed travels to Saudi Arabia

Former President Mohamed Nasheed has travelled to Saudi Arabia. The former president was accompanied by Ahmed Naseem, who served as his foreign minister from March 21, 2011 until his resignation on February 7, 2012.

Although the former president had travelled to Saudi Arabia, upon a request from King Salman bin Abdul-Aziz Al-Saud, no details regarding the visit were disclosed.

Relations with Saudi Arabia and Maldives have been enhanced in the past few years. The government of Saudi Arabia has been one of the key investors of the development projects initiated by the current administration of Maldives.

Further, the government of Saudi Arabia has also congratulated President-Elect Ibrahim Mohamed Solih on his landslide victory in the presidential election held on September 23.
