Tourist arrivals have increased 9.1% in the first eight months of 2018 compared to the same period last year. 123,992 tourists arrived in August which is an increase of 2.2% compared to the same month of 2017, according to statistics published by Ministry of Tourism.
In 2017, tourist arrivals in August were recorded at 121,310. In August, the most number of tourists arrived to Maldives from China, recording 20% of total arrivals.
Moreover, 7.7% of tourists arrived from UK, 7.3% from Germany, 7.2% from Italy and 5.3% from India.
