Manifesto aims to provide housing for all Maldivians: Housing Minister

Minister of Housing and Infrastructure Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has revealed the main aim of the manifesto is to ensure housing for all citizens, adding the pledge will be achieved if President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom is re-elected for a second term in office.

Speaking on a programme aired on PSM News, Housing Minister Muizzu noted the current president has been the most efficient and highlighted the development to the country. Noting criticism was raised when Hiyaa Accomplished, the second social housing project launched by the administration, the housing minister said the project is crucial to ensure housing is provided for all Maldivians. The minister added the aim of the president is to develop every capital island in each atoll to the standards of an urban city, by establishing the necessary infrastructure, facilities and services. He further dismissed claims the government prioritises development for the Greater Male’ Area.

Furthermore, shedding light on one of the most important aspects of the manifesto for the next five years, which is proving housing for all Maldivians, Minister Muizzu revealed in addition to social housing projects, financial and technical assistance will be provided for individuals seeking to construct or purchase homes. In this regard, he assured the interest rate and equity cost will be decreased which will immensely benefit the citizens.
