The Maldivian people must put forth national interest: President

Highlighting national interest is more important than individual interests, President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom called upon the people of Maldives to always put forth the interest of the nation first. The President made the remark addressing the people at the function held to inaugurate the Airport in Kulhudhuffushi and initiate the services of the bottling factory in the island in Haa Dhaalu Atoll.

During his speech, President Yameen noted the importance of practicing individual voting rights and stated it is a civic responsibility bestowed up on the Maldivian citizens to choose what is best for the nation. The president urged the people to think forward before making this decision. Reiterating the importance of maintaining peace and prosperity within the nation, President Yameen emphasised on the importance of maintaining the rule of law in order to bring sustainable development and peace to the nation.

Furthermore, President Yameen noted he realises the eagerness of the citizens to see development, progress and prosperity within the nation. The president reassured the administration has always put special emphasis on fulfilling the needs of the people. In addition, he highlighted Maldivians have seen the development projects turn into reality during the term of the current administration.

Speaking in this regard, the president stated the administration faced huge obstacles in leading the nation during the past four years. Even with all the difficulties, the president noted the administration dealt with the challenges with resilience and noted he will always prioritise the progress of the nation above anything else.

Speaking at the ceremony, President Yameen stated Kulhudhuffushi is the developmental hub and economic boon of Northern Maldives. He further noted the tourism sector would be further developed in the region and the terminal of Kulhudhuffushi Airport will be completed by the end of the year.
