Maldives Police Service has closed the Sina-Male’ Bridge for the ceremony to open the new runway developed in Velana International Airport (VIA). The Sina-Male’ Bridge will be closed for traffic from 1515-1615hrs and 1730-1830hrs for the runway opening ceremony.
As part of the runway opening ceremony, activities will be held to welcome the Maldivian national football team arriving in Maldives with the trophy of SAFF Suzuki Cup 2018, which will be held at the Sina-Male’ Bridge area.
The maiden flight to land on the new runway of VIA will be the largest passenger aircraft in operation, Airbus A-380. The flight will carry the trophy winning national team and will be piloted by a local. The flight is scheduled to land at 1530hrs.
