Maldives Embassy in Bangladesh has hosted a reception in honour of the Maldives national football team for winning the SAFF Suzuki Cup 2018.
The ceremony held at Maldives Embassy in Bangladesh was attended by the national team and Maldivians residing in Dhaka. Addressing the ceremony, Maldivian Ambassador to Bangladesh Aishath Shaan Shakir congratulated the national football team on their success after defeating the most successful team of the region.
Maldives defeated defending champions India 2-1 to lift the SAFF Suzuki Cup 2018 at the Bangabandhu National Stadium in Dhaka. A 19th-minute strike by Ibrahim Mahudhee and a beautiful counter-attack finished deftly by Ali Fasir were enough for Petar Segrt's men to be crowned as the champions. This is second SAFF Suzuki Cup title Maldives have won.
