Waste Management Corporation Limited (WAMCO) has collected 750 tonnes of waste within two days as part of the cleaning project of the dumpsite in Kulhudhuffushi in Haa Dhaalu Atoll. WAMCO expects to complete the whole project within two months.
To address the waste issue in Kulhudhuffushi, WAMCO has deployed landing crafts to the island, with more landing crafts to be brought to the island to boost the efforts. In August, President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom has announced WAMCO will commence waste management operations in Kulhudhuffushi.
WAMCO envisions to provide environmentally responsible and sustainable waste management services for Maldivian communities.
