The public describes the revolutionary changes set into motion when Sina-Male' Bridge opened for public transportation, as extraordinary progress. More and more people who used to commute between the Male' and Hulhumale' on ferry, are opting to use the bridge, either on bus, cars or motorcycles.
The chaos, crowd and stress of the Hulhumale' Ferry Terminal on weekends, is now a thing of the past. Citizens welcome this convenience with open arms. The government's description of Sina-Male' Bridge as an investment that would reap economic and social benefits, has become a reality citizens accept.
During off-peak hours, buses are operated between Male' and Hulhumale', every twenty minutes, According to Maldives Ports Limited (MPL). The company is currently operating 48-seaters and 78-seaters between the two cities. As a bus fare has not officially been set, MPL is operating buses, free of cost.
At the Greater Male' Bus Terminal, services to check-in for flights of Maldivian, are also being provided. This is also of great convenience for the public.
