Shaheem pledges to unite Maldives if President secures a second term

Running mate of Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM) Dr. Mohamed Shaheem Ali Saeed has pledged to unite Maldives if President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom secures a second term in office.
Speaking at a PPM rally, running mate of the ruling party noted President Abdulla Yameen maintained the peace and sovereignty in the country during his first term in office. Dr. Shaheem said to continue the rapid advancement and the development of the country, it is vital to re-elect President Yameen to a second term. He said President Yameen is the only candidate who has the knowledge and the philosophy to govern Maldives.
Furthermore, the running mate highlighted the opposition coalition is formed for rivals who are competing with other. Suggesting the opposition coalition would bring further chaos to the country, Shaheem said opposition leaders does not promote the best interests of the country. He noted the public appreciates the development brought to the country and highlighted his belief the president will win the presidential election with a vast majority.
Noting president Yameen has the backing of Islamic scholars, the running mate highlighted here are a few number of Islamic scholars preaching with alignment of their political views. Shaheem urged those scholars to stop political preaches by misinterpreting religious scriptures. He noted the opposition coalition is formed of individuals and parties who does not respect Islamic principles and values and questioned why some scholars are backing the opposition candidate.
The rally was held as part of the campaign efforts to re-elect President Yameen to a second term in office. Over 30,000 supporters of the president attended the rally held at the carnival area in the capital, Male’ City.
