It is absurd for the opposition to claim credit for Sina-Male' Bridge: Dr. Muizzu

Minister of Housing and Infrastructure Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has criticised the opposition, noting it was absurd for the opposition to claim credit for the Sina-Male' Bridge, after months of silence and negligence on the development of Maldives. The housing minister made the statement while addressing the function held in Naifaru in Lhaviyani Atoll to inaugurate the new harbour.
Responding to various claims about the origin of the idea for the construction of a bridge between Male' and Hulhule', Minister Muizzu noted they were the same people who had deemed it was impossible for the project to be conducted successfully. The housing minister said that even when the construction was progressing part by part, the opposition did not claim ownership of the idea. Therefore, he said it was absurd to claim ownership of the idea on conclusion of the project.
Minister Muizzu said the opposition is not refusing to accept the development being brought to Maldives, but refusing to accept development is being spearheaded by President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom.
Following the inauguration of the Sina-Male' Bridge, the opposition has taken to social media to attribute efforts carried out by previous administrations to develop a bridge between Male' and Hulhule'.
The opposition attributes the conception of the idea to former President Maumoon Abdul Gayoom former President Mohamed Nasheed and former President Mohamed Waheed Hassan Manik.
